The Best Auction Team for 2009 Based on Average Values

I put together my ideal team based on MyFantasyLeague’s 2009 Average Auction Values data found here.

$200 cap:
QB: Matt Schaub - $13
RB: Adrian Peterson - $47
RB: Pierre Thomas - $20
WR: Randy Moss - $33
WR: Eddie Royal - $16
RB/WR: Brian Westbrook - $28
TE: Greg Olsen - $9
K: Ryan Longwell - $1
DEF: San Diego - $3

B: LeSean McCoy - $9
B: Zach Miller - $4
B: Kevin Walter - $7
B: Josh Morgan - $4
B: Chris Henry - $3
B: Kyle Orton - $4

This roster adds up to exactly $200, and I love it. Schaub can produce the same average points per game as guys twice his price, so the value starts with him. That opens up space to bring in the best in the biz, Adrian Peterson, who could make history with the new threat of a passing game. Pierre Thomas and Brian Westbrook are simply great values this year, especially when you can lock up McCoy for under $10. Moss has 20 TD potential so I’ll pay for that. Royal is a great value considering how often he will touch the ball. WR is set, with Walter and Morgan as solid bye week fills. Chris Henry is the big sleeper for this team. Orton’s numbers are going to surprise people all the weapons there acclimate to McDaniels’ offense.

That starting line up is easily attainable thanks to the low cost of Schaub, Thomas, and Royal. Of course the auction never goes exactly as planned so have a backup of similar value in mind for each spot. Sacrifice bench depth quality for starting line up quality. Good luck!
